dc.description.abstract‘AUTOMATED HOSTEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM’ is a software developed for managing different hostel activities. Within the past few years’ educational institutions are increasing fast. Therefore, the need for hostel is also increasing, by which accommodation is needed for the students studying in their various institutions, here the case study is Mountain Top. This project shows the design and implementation of an automated hostel management system aimed at creating a database that would store and manage the hostel management system data, and also creating a platform for applying and booking of rooms through the application rather than using the physical method of application, which is known to be always stressful and not as efficient as the automated method. The methodology used in this project work was accomplished by using suitable software development cycle. Brackets was used as the development environment for the backend of this project and XAMPP Control Panel (Cross-Platform Apache MySQL PHP and Perl) for the database environment. Moreover, the authentication involves using both username and password to enable the user access the hostel management portal The result gotten for this project led to an application, which can now allocate hostel rooms to students automatically, without the need for any physical application, or using of biro and paper for application, and it also keeps the data’s safe It was concluded that without implementing this automation application, most schools will still find it stressful to allocate rooms to students using the physical method rather than the automation method, and they’ll still be struggling with the record keeping which would have to include having large files and a room for storing such recordsen_US
