Abstract: Individual sexuality is being restricted in today's society. Human sexualities have been demonstrated to be profoundly repressed over time as a result of the scary reality of their settings. People are gendered as a result of the social conventions they are required to follow, rather than their own choices, which causes more harm than good in terms of realizing their identities and even leads to psychosis, which may have long-term consequences for their sexuality. As a result, the focus of this study is on elucidating the themes of sexuality and romance taking into consideration, the sexual norms and complexities in two African regions. In this light, we will examine the role of sexual identity and romantic attraction in selected poems by Folu Agoi and Sylvia Kankara.
