Abstract: This study examines the various ways women are being oppressed and marginalized by men through the use of their language and actions using the text Beyond the Trial by Chigozie Anuli Mgbadugha. The various types of Semantic theories such as: Referential theory, Ideational theory, Use theory and Contextual theory are explained. The various divisions of Feminism such as: Liberal Feminism, Radical Feminism, Cultural Feminism, Existentialist Feminism, Marxist/Social Feminism and Global Feminism are also explained in the project. Also, the Feminist theory is used for the analysis of expressions that depicts feminism. Excerpts from the stories of Rude Awakening, Shadows from the Past and Erased Reproach are used to further explain how feminism helped these oppressed women to overcome their challenges.
