dc.description.abstract Electronic learning or E-learning is a general term used to refer computer-enhanced learning . It is used interchangeably in so many contexts that it is critical to be clear what on means when one speaks of ‘eLearning’. In many respects, it is commonly associated with the field of advanced learning technology, which deals with both the technologies and associated methodologies in learning using networked and/or multimedia. The design and implementation of an E-Learning web portal was the main aspect of this project and is aimed towards creating a database that would store most of the online courses and also storing each and every student personal information, which would be used to create a profile for them in other to access most features on the E-learning platform. This project solved the problem of appearance in the class room to avoid face to face interaction thereby reducing the time and effort it takes from the user’s residence to the class room. The objective of the study was to design and implement an interactive electronic learning system. A suitable software development life cycle (waterfall model) that cosist of five(5) stages was used in the development of the system because of its departmentalization and control. Sublime text would was used as a development environment for the backend technology and XAMPP Control Panel(Cross-Platform Apache MySQL PHP and Perl) for the database environment. Both username and password were the authentication methods used to enable the user access to the elearning web portal. The result showed that the e-learning system had helped to reduce the problem of appearance in the class room which avoided face to face interaction, and as such, reduced the time and effort it takes the user to move from his/her residence to the class room. Also, users’ information is being maintained in case of emergency by contacting the administrator, The combination of distinct safety approaches towards e-learning web portal has been noted to be a useful strategy, but it also difficult to maintain as well as increasing development expenses. Therefore, this project recommends that adequate measures should be taken when maintaining the software in other to prevent future failure. en_US
